Framer sites are gorgeous. The motion, the type, everything moves so nice.
Aliya, November 2026.
So I opened it. And I closed it lol.
For me it's way too complicated. Its a design tool. Frames, breakpoints, components, stacks. If you are a designer, you are home. If you're not, you're in a cockpit.
It has great potential, I know. I even thought ok, I will explore it one evening. I never had this evening.
I'm a brand person, not a designer. I know what I like when I see it. I just can't build it from zero in a tool like that.
What I wanted instead
- The Framer look. Clean, modern, a bit of motion, big beautiful type.
- Without learning a design tool.
- The phone version done for me.
- A price that makes sense for one website.
What else is out there (for non-designers)
| Price for 1 site | How hard, for me | Phone version | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Framer | from US$10/mo (Basic) | Way too complicated | You adjust it with breakpoints |
| Big Cat (ours) | €12/mo, or €10/mo paid 6 months | Easy | Done for you |
| Squarespace | €14.40/mo yearly (Basic) | Easy | Automatic |
| Wix | about US$17/mo yearly (Light) | Medium, many menus | Made for you, you tidy it |
| Showit | US$22/mo yearly | Medium | By hand, page by page |
Prices from each official page, October and November 2026.
Squarespace is the easy one. Polished, hard to make ugly. But it looks like Squarespace, and for one site it was always too expensive for me.
Wix has everything. For me it was clunky and things kept jumping back. (my Wix story)
Showit I loved. Free like Framer, much easier. But the phone version you do again by hand. (my Showit story)
Now I use Big Cat
Yes it's mine. I'm biased, I know.
I paste a Framer site I love. Or a screenshot, or my Pinterest board. Big Cat takes the feeling, the proportions, the type, the space, and makes my site with my words and my photos. It doesn't copy the other site.
Then I move things myself, or I just ask the cat. "Make the title bigger." Done. The phone version is done by itself.
That's the Framer look for me, without the cockpit.
If you're a designer, keep Framer, it's beautiful. If you're not, you don't have to become one.

Questions people ask
Is Framer hard to use?
For designers it's great. For me, not a designer, it was way too complicated: it's a real design tool, with breakpoints and components to learn.
What is an easier alternative to Framer?
Squarespace is the easiest classic one. Big Cat starts from a Framer site you love (or a screenshot) and makes yours with that feeling, phone version done, no design tool to learn.
Can I make a site that looks like Framer without being a designer?
Yes. With Big Cat you paste a Framer site you like, and it builds your own site with that feeling and your own words and photos. It never copies the other site.
How much does Framer cost?
In November 2026, Framer's Basic site plan starts at US$10 a month, from its official pricing page.
